A short step‑by‑step guide on how to work with a project using Naviate Bimfire. It is not a complete guide, since projects can differ and workflows may vary between regions. This guide will not dive deeply into every step, but it will frequently refer to the Pinnacle Series, which is included when purchasing Naviate Bimfire.
- Start new project, select the proper template for the project
- Link the Architect model, pin the link, make the link room bounding and use copy monitor feature to copy the levels.
- Create views
- Views for sheets
- Modified / Deleted
- Unconnected
- (IFC projects, create workviews)
- Go through the views and use tag all not taged - rooms.
- Place spaces where accommodation groups should be presented in early design, whether it would be automatic suppression systems, evacuation corridors, fire brigade staircases, etc.
- Set up Naviate Bimfire tab
- Wall Settings, in the drop-down select different wall requirements that are included in Naviate Bimfire template. Don't start by trying to create personal, without Revit knowledge.
- Opening Requirement, write 6 different opening requirements, which will be assigned to a door or window requirement, depending on what is selected. This doesn't apply to regions who uses symbols as opening requirements.
- Quick Connection Settings, for regions who doesn't uses text as opening requirements, set up openings requirements here in the drop-down, enable "only openings". Other regions can assign other requirements here, such as requirements for door fittings, evacuation strategy, door magnets.
- Go level by level, using the views for sheet views and place opening, wall, and other symbols. I.e. risers, safe refuge, signage, path of travels, evacuation routes.
- It's common to copy/paste objects. Remember that connections to the underlying object are copied as well. Run AutoConnect Requirements to reconnect them, or Connect family feature. When setting up, use the "Unconnected views".
- Set up horizontal requirements, such as floors- and roof requirements.
- Once the model is set up, prepare export settings for IFC, DWG (if necessary), and PDF
- Before delivery, do a QA of the regulatory model connections, Check Import Mappings, and make sure to send agreed upon parameters.
- Now do a check so all is OK.
As the project progresses, the underlying files update. Download the latest files and replace the linked files. Don't rename with dates.
