Dynamic Functionality in Naviate for Civil 3D

Naviate for Civil 3D contains dynamic elements that updates objects or data as soon as you update your model. These dynamic elements sometimes needs to be turned off.  Here is a list of the dynamic elements that Naviate contain, how they work and if/how you can turn them off. 

  • Slope Pattern 
  • Slope Arrow  
  • Line Set 
  • Sub Surface 
  • Verify Assembly 
  • Dynamic Property Data 
  • Sign Holder 
  • Service Pipes 
  • Dynamic 3D Polyline 

 

Slope Pattern - NvSlopePattern

Slope Pattern can update automatically when the lines are moved. This can be turned off for all Slope Patterns in the drawing by un-ticking 'Dynamic update for all patterns in the drawing' in the Create dialog. If the dynamics are turned off, you can use Update Slope Pattern to update them manually. 

Slope Arrow - NvSlopeArrows

Slope Arrows consists of Cogo Points and Feature Lines that move together when moving one or the other. 

This cannot be turned off

Line Set - Nv_Ak_Grading

Line Sets update when the orginal line is moved. The dynamic update within Line Sets can't be turned off.

Sub Surface - NvSubSurface

Sub Surfaces update when the original surface is edited. The dynamic update with Sub Surface can't be turned off

Verify Assembly - NvVerifyAssemblies

Verify Assembly checks if assemblies in the library have been updated since inserting them in the drawing. This check is done automatically when a drawing is opened. The check can be turned off in the Import Assembly dialog or in the Verify Assembly dialog. If the automatic check is turned off, Verify Assembly can be used to check manually. 

Dynamic Property Data - NvPropDynamic

If Property Sets use Naviate formulas, these can update automatically when the model changes. To turn of the automatic update, use Dynamic Update and set it to Off. When the dynamic update is off, use Update Properties to run the update manually. 

Sign Holder - NvInsertSignHolder

Sign Holders section view and 3D View are updated automatically if the 2D-symbol is moved. 

This dynamic update can't be turned off.

Service Pipes - NvPipeConnectCreate

Service Pipes are updated automatically when the main pipes are updated. This dynamic update can be turned off from the Naviate Object Explorer by right-clicking on Service Pipe. 

When this is turned off, Service Pipes can be updated from the same right-click menu or with Update Service Pipe. 

Dynamic 3D Polyline - NvPlineFromNetworkParts

When using Offset Network to create a parallell copy of an existing network, a dynamic 3D Polyline is created that will move along with the existing network. 

This dynamic update can't be turned off.
