Evacuation Route

In Naviate Bimfire Template v. 1.2.0 the family Fire_EvacuationRoute was changed from using a line-based Fire Alarm Device to a Structrual Framing family. To be able to have a miter-join on the family and even add a height/width parameter to control the geometry.

In Naviate Bimfire Template v. 1.3.0 a railing family was added as well, making it a bit faster to draw a length which automatically showcase the distance of that length. Other workflow is presented under the structural framing family.

Structural Framing Family Workflow

  1. Go to the tab Structure and create a beam.
  2. Select which draw tool, and make sure the chain feature is selected. Most important is that z-justification is set to Bottom, otherwise it will not be visible because it will be in the middle of the slab.
Change NVHeight and NVWidth parameters after the requirements to change the 3D geometry.
  3. In default Structural Framing a line will represent the evacuation route, to adjust the joins, go to Modify tab.
  4. Each join has two arrows to control the joins, flip them until the joins are as expected.

  5. Check the family in 3D and change view detail to Medium, either via entire view or recommended, via VV/VG -> Structural Framing.
  6. It's possible to run BIM Coordination against the evacuation route to check that there is no clashes.

Railing Family Workflow

  1. Once the furthest distance is located, go to Architecture -> Railing.

  2. Use the sketch tools to sketch the part of travel and select the railing with the correct size.
  3. Press Finish the sketch to get the 3D symbol, either tag it or select and see the length.

If the size of the distance doesn't exist, it's necessary to duplicate the profile of the railing, before duplicating the railing type.

  1. Right-click on the profile NV_Profile_RouteSize and duplicate the type. Rename the type to the new size.
  2. Double-click on the new type to edit the parameters, see example.
  3. Select the railing, edit the type.
  4. Duplicate the type, and rename the new type
  5. Edit the Rail Structure:
  6. Change the Height if necessary, and change the profile to the newly created profile.
  7. Finish the new railing.
