How-to use WallRequirement_AdaptiveSoffitCompart for irregular walls

There exist a few ways to create compartmentation for irregular sized walls,

  • Model in-place.
  • Use asymmetric feature on the wall requirement family.
  • Use the AdaptiveSoffitCompart family.

The WallRequirement_AdaptiveSoffitCompart is a 5 point adaptive family.

The recommended workflow is to open a 3D view and work from there.

  1. Prepare the view so the wall is visible in the view, (in this case turn off the roof in visibility/graphic override).

  2. Drag-and-drop the family type from the project browser into the 3D view. Before placing, change to place on workplane.
  3. Pick the side of the wall.

  4. Pick 5 points on the wall, use zoom to rotate around to get points.

Note: It's easier to re-do the adaptive family than edit the points.
  5. The wall compartment are now on the face of the wall, rotate to the top of the wall and use the move feature to move the barrier to the center of the wall.
  6. Use the connect family feature to connect to the wall.
  7. If there are same soffit walls on the floor plan, it's possible to copy the family and manually connect those to the other walls.
