Symbol Legend as Schedule

In Revit 2023 it became possible to filter schedules per sheet, enabling an automatically created Legend on sheets.

The Naviate Bimfire templates contain a schedule that can be used on sheets which filters only what is shown on the views. All Naviate Bimfire components have been updated with a static Type Image of the symbol.

If the line style/colour i.e. wall compartmentation is changed, the image needs to be updated. Open the family and edit the image and reload the symbol into the project to update.

Drag-and-drop the schedule onto sheets and it will list what is visible in the view.

Add a Colour Scheme on the drawing.

Hatches for rooms can't be visualized with schedules, but need to have a separate Colour Fill Legend. It will be it's own component so it needs to be placed on each sheet, but the perk is that it will automatically update when a value appear or disappear.

  1. In the sheet view, double click on the view to enable it.

The drawings and schedules should become grey.
  2. Go to the annotation tab (or Analyze) and place the Colour Fill Legend.

    Move around where it fits.
  3. Use Copy/Paste and paste it to selected views (views on sheets)

This will enable that the legend has the same position on each sheet.

Separate Door Requirements from the Legend

The Naviate Bimfire template has a separate schedule showing all the different door requirements on the sheet when placed. Follow the guide below to create such schedule in older projects.

  1. Start by filter Door Requirement family from the legend schedule:

Meaning that it won't appear in the general symbol legend.
  2. Create a Fire Protection Schedule, add these fields:
  3. Filter these filters:
  4. Sort by these parameters:

Note: Some signage symbols can appear small, this is because the row will adapt to the smallest size which is possible, which would be the size of the text.

Change the description, by having a row break (ctrl + Enter) to create two rows of text to solve this issue.
