Naviate Ribbons are missing

2 min. readlast update: 11.24.2025

When starting Naviate and no Naviate Ribbons are loaded there can be multiple reasons for this.

1. Verify your start up

If Civil 3D is started from another icon than the Naviate icon, Naviate is not necessarily loaded. Make sure you start from the Naviate icon on your desktop or in your Start menu. If you have pinned Naviate on the Task Bar and have reinstalled Naviate, you might need to unpin Naviate and repin to make sure you get the correct start up for the icon on the taskbar.

If you want to combine the Naviate start up with your personal start up, you can use Profile Setup to create a combined start up icon. Read more about Profile Setup Here

2. Cui-files are loaded but not displayed

If you can start Naviate-commands (try typing NVABOUT on the commandline, if you get the Naviate splash screen, then Naviate is loaded) but no ribbons are displayed, then the CUI-files are not displayed.

For 2025 and 2026 you can use the command NAVIATE to open Load Naviate Ribbons. Untick all ribbons except Naviate-Base, and then click OK. Now you should see the Naviate ribbon. Then use NAVIATE again, and tick the ribbons you want to load.

For earlier versions, start the Civil command CUI and under Partial Customization Files, right-click and unload all Naviate-files. Then click OK and restart your Naviate. This should reload the Naviate ribbons.

3. No CUI-files are loaded

If no CUI-files are loaded at all, then the profile might need to be recreated. Go into Options by right-clicking anywhere in your drawing. On the Profiles-tab, select any other profile and use Set Current on the right side to activate that profile. Then select the Naviate-profile and use Delete to delete the profile.

Close down Civil 3D and start Naviate from the Naviate icon.

4. Still nothing...

Uninstall and Reinstall Naviate. To do a clean uninstall of Naviate, please read this document.
