In some projects, the same floor plan has different elevations, meaning there are several levels for the same floor plan. When creating a model, the workflow is slightly different to ensure everything is at the correct elevation.
- Copy/Monitor all relevant levels as usual.
- In this example, there is a building A(left) and building B (right)
- What is visible in the view is not only controlled by visibility/graphic override but also the view range in the view. In many cases the default cut height of 1200mm is too low or too high, to have a presentable view for the sheets.
-
Everything which should be connected to each floor must be designed/placed on the right view/elevation.
i.e. Spaces, which search for walls with elevation 0mm (default value, Computation Height) above the placed level.
-
Here it’s important to work with several different views. One set of views to place on drawings and other to work in. Go to View tab and create a set of plan views to design in.
Note: the screenshot doesn't include the building A / B levels and are just representation of creating work views.
-
Move all relevant views to new subfolders, in this example A and B, because that is how the Architect defined it in their model.
-
“Hide” all other parts of the building in each view, so only building A is visible in views placed under subfolder A and same with B.
Either use Masking Regions(picture is using this method), Scope boxes, or manually update with crop region.
After this, start adding requirements on the different buildings.
-
The Views for sheets will probably not look ideal after placing all requirements in the correct building height. There will be a need to do some manual graphical fine-tuning on those views. These two buildings has identical requirement designed in the work views.
Note: In the right building, no doors are visible and none of the color scheme for the evacuation route as well.
-
Plan Regions are used to change the view range in certain parts of the floor plan. It can be found under View → Plan Views → Plan Regions
-
Sketch the area to cover, then change the View range in properties for that area.
-
Presently, the visual presentation has been notably improved. To conclude, access the View template and within the Annotation Categories, deactivate the Plan Regions.
