Before starting the uninstall process, consider backing up your user data if the purpose is to reinstall Naviate for Civil 3D. Recommended is to create a back up of the Public-folder and the Templates. See Notes in the text below.
Naviate for Civil 3D is uninstalled through the Windows Apps & Features list by finding Naviate Civil 3D 20XX and selecting More (three vertical dots) > Uninstall.
When Naviate for Civil 3D has been uninstalled, check that Subassembly Studio OEM Runtime 20XX also has been uninstalled, otherwise Uninstall Subassembly Studio OEM Runtime 20XX.
Depending on your system, some files and folders might not be removed by the installation process, these then need to be removed manually.
These folders that can be removed in their entirety:
- C:\Program Files\Symetri\Naviate\Civil3D20XX
- C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\NaviateC3D20XX.bundle
- C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\SubassemblyStudioOEMRuntime20XX.bundle
- C:\ProgramData\Symetri\Naviate\Civil3D20XX
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Symetri
- C:\Users\Public\Documents\Symetri\Naviate\Civil3D20XX
Note! This folder contains user data that the user might want to be saved before uninstallation!
Naviate also stores some files in Civil 3Ds folders that can be removed:
- Templates (DWT) are stored in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\C3D 20XX\enu\Template - all templates with Naviate in the name can be removed.
- Note! The templates might have been altered by the user and as such should be saved before uninstallation!
- Tool Palettes are stored in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 20XX\enu\Support - all folders named WorkspaceCatalog (Naviate ..... ) can be removed in their entirety.
These folders can contain various files depending on which language of Naviate was installed but are generally not files that are required to be removed for a reinstallation to complete.
- Under C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20XX Naviate has added SHX-files, LIN-files and others.
- Under C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 20XX\enu, files may have been added under:
- Assemblies
- Data
- Imported Tools
- Pipes Catalog
- Pressure Pipes Catalog
- Tool Catalog
Naviate also creates a number of registry keys that may need to be removed manually. Warning! Use the Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry and the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
