There are three ways of doing horizontal compartmentation, all ways have their merit. Below is a step-by-step way to use the copy/monitor workflow.
Read more about Model in-place here:
To be able to have checks for changes on the horizontal compartmentation, it’s not possible to use model in-place families. Instead, use copy/monitor on the floor instances that are placed. It's not possible to use monitor on model in-place. If there are no Floor types in the project, use Transfer Project Standards and select only floor types.
There are two ways on doing this, will go through both workflows below. One way is to create floors manually, and then monitor these floors against the linked models. If the floors in the linked are modified a notification will notify the users.
The other solution is to use copy monitor, this will copy the entire layout of the floor from the linked model. If the floors in the linked are modified a notification will notify the users.
-
Select the link to copy the location of the slabs. Same as with Levels.
There are two ways, either copy the floor types from the linked model or associate it to existing floor types in the project. - Use existing floors types in the project (see below at nr 3 for the other workflow):
- Check the Option settings and set a default floor type.
- Select the floors to copy into the project. They will be automatically monitored.
Ignore this message.
Note: It's not possible to copy a floor several times.
- Check the Option settings and set a default floor type.
- Copy Floor types from the linked model and change material / coarse fill pattern.
- Check the Options to copy the original type.
- Select the floors to copy, this can be a bit tricky but it will copy the exact floors from the link with openings (shaft, boundary openings).
- Once copied, edit the type and structure:
- Remove all layers except one, but keep the thickness - 2mm. Change the material to the colour of the boundary:
- Change the coarse scale fill pattern & colour, and rename the floor.
Note: Warnings will appear mentioning the copy is different from original. This will be adress as a final stage. - Remove the ghosting by setting the Height Offset From Level to -1.
- Finish Copy Monitor & go through the warnings that appeared during the creation of horizontal compartments in Coordination Review.
- Check the Options to copy the original type.
- Once finished with copying floors, notice that the compartmentations are 300mm thick by default. Create different floor types with different thickness if that is required. Select those compartmentations and change to the required floor type.
- In this example EI 60 will be used.
-
- Enter a value on FireReq_FireRatingFloor, this is the data which will be sent to the floor object.
- Use Connect family to manually connect each and one of these compartmentation floors to the linked floors.
Note: recommended to use a keyboard shortcut. - In 3D / Section the linked floors will overlap with the compartmentation floor. This will have an incorrect representation on the compartment.
- Open the view and add the filter NV_Floors in Visibility/graphic overrride. Otherwise create a similar in the project.
- Add 1% transparency on NV_Floors.
- This will result that the compartmentation floors will be fully visible in the view.
- With the copy monitor, if the floors changes, this notification will appear on start-up.
Press ok. - Use the project browser to select the link which the floors are monitored.
- Go to Coordination Review of that link.
- Either postpone for later, accept the difference or update the floor after the linked floor.
